Atlas Genius & Imagine Dragons – Sound Academy 02/27/13

Awesome show at the shitty Sound Academy. Atlas Genius were great, they are starting to break with ‘Trojans’ being a hit and they just put out their proper debut album. The crowd was into them well enough and they proved to be a great warm up for ID. Last year we saw the Dragons at the Opera House, just as they were breaking out – now they are way more popular – playing for 2500 people instead of 500 at this SOLD OUT show. Also, they’ve added a lot more production value and design to their live show, all of which added to a nice atmosphere. There were a few sound problems here and there but overall they sounded great and the audience was loving the set. The live version of Radioactive has a great energy and the entire crowd sing-along that ensues with ‘It’s Time’ was worth the price of admission alone. Got the tickets off the net for $8 each last minute 🙂

Passion Pit – Kool Haus 02/16/13

Matt and Kim opened the show with a fantastic and extremely energetic set. They were just having a party on stage and set a great mood, I was very impressed with them. Passion Pit sounded terrific and the crowd was great. There was a different feel to the songs in a live setting than on the record, it added an extra layer of depth and immediacy to the songs, which often sound upbeat while having very dark lyrics. I was thrilled with the show and will definitely see both acts next time they come around!

Lady Gaga – Air Canada Centre 02/09/13

One of the last shows before Lady Gaga had to cancel the Born This Way Ball tour to have hip surgery. We were on the floor and had a great view of this very elaborate show. At one point during the song “Born This Way” a fight broke out right beside Mary and some people were thrown out…not something you expect to happen at a Gaga concert! Gaga always shines live, dancing and preaching to a crowd who eats it up – a unique and satisfying pop spectacle. The show was opened by a weird DJ set.
