Coheed and Cambria opened the show, playing to a small portion of the amphitheatre. Their brand of emo-prog rock didn’t go over to great, but they sounded decent and ended their set on a high note with ‘Welcome Home’. 30 minutes later, it was time for the main event.

“Welcome to the first show of our first tour in 14 Years”. Soundgarden kicked off their summer reunion tour in Toronto in grand fashion. The boys sounded polished, as if no time had passed at all, and Cornell was ON. Sometimes he’s hit and miss but his voice sounded great and they tore through a lot of the classics early on. The clear highlight of the night was ‘Outshined’. The setlist was effective but had a few deep cuts that lost a bit of the audience and somehow ‘Pretty Noose’ didn’t make it.

All in all, a great show and a perfect return to form…to make it even more memorable, as they were playing ‘Black Hole Sun’, a small storm rolled in, with a light drizzle and some very cool lightning that continued for the duration.
