Weezer – Air Canada Centre 12/05/2009

The Edge Jingle Bell Rock featuring Weezer, illScarlet, Jack’s Mannequin and Motion City Soundtrack. Motion City is a personal favourite so it was cool to see them open the show, even if the crowd wasn’t really into it and a few songs sounded rough. This was just before “My Dinosaur Life” was released, so we didn’t know the new songs yet. Jack’s Mannequin was alright and I’ve seen illScarlet twice, never on purpose. We had tickets on the floor and never miss a good Weezer show. It was a blast. In the last few years, Rivers has really become a great rock and roll front man, just giving it 100%. He used to be awkward but now he’s going for it. Steph and I got to give him a sweaty high five after the ran out into the crowd, so technically, I have ‘met’ Rivers Cuomo – scratch that off the bucket list! The show was highlighted by a huge gathering of musical weezer fans jamming onstage with the group. One of the best Weezer concerts we’ve ever been to! (as a sidenote, later that night the Weezer tour bus was involved in a terrible accident that resulted in some minor injuries and a postponement of the remainder of the tour. Luckily everyone was fine!)
